- Bathroom Styles
One of the top bathroom decorating trends today is the use of a neutral color pallet. As a person who is only sharing her opinion, blah. As you can see, here’s a big bathroom with everything you could want. A jetted tub, an awesome shower, standing sink and makeup vanity. There is even a fireplace! And it is all beige. Is it just me or would a punch of color make it oh, so much prettier?

So why, on a home decorating blog, would I feature a picture of Miss Me Jeans? Well, I just have to say that these jeans have the BEST CUT of any jeans ever! I also love the embellished pockets and trim! We girls have to stick together and when we find something that makes us look great, we have to share! I found these adorable Miss Me Jeans at Buckle. Here’s a link to an entire page of great looking Miss Me Jeans from Buckle.
Next time it’s back to Home Decorating….and who knows, I may have framed this pair of jeans by then!

As you know, this blog is about “dressing” your home. It’s not enough to just have a house, you make it a home when you add the special touches that add beauty and comfort and make life worth living. This next few weeks, I’m going to be talking about using handmade art items and accessories which are artistic and beautiful.
As mentioned in Better Homes & Gardens, Crickets’ Creations is a place where you can find handmade fine knitted items known as “Art Knit”. Shown here is a gorgeous luxury throw, hand-knitted in a wonderful cream with gorgeous art fringe edges. The artist, Celeste, makes these throws to order. Her on-line shop is Cricket’s Creations. The term “Art Knit” is familiar to top designers and decorators who eagerly search for these one-of-a-kind treasures.
So when you want to brighten up a room, consider buying an accessory that is hand-made, artistic and an investment in beauty.

Using photographs to decorate is nothing new of course but if you are an amateur photographer, as I am, and your camera is not the best quality and your “photo decorating” is probably limited to a few snap shots of loved ones scattered around your house.
One of the hottest new decorating trends is using photography art for decorating. Not only is it beautiful, it is a great investment. The value of art photographs will appreciate much in the same way as other art media.
The photographs shown here are from photographer, Heather O’Connor. Heather is a great example of a photographic artist whose work is versatile, beautiful and affordable. She offers black and white prints (I LOVE the polar bear) and gorgeous full color prints. You can purchase Heather’s work in her Etsy shop, Aktie9.
Using photographic art is an affordable way to add beauty and style to any room in your home or office.

Office Art

Glisson Boughton study
Those who work at home usually have created an office space from which to work. What is necessary for a home office space to be functional? Assuming that your home office contains a computer (and let’s face it, even if you knit sweaters as your home business, you have to sell them somewhere), comfortable office furniture is a must, everyone would agree. Also it’s important to have the best quality office equipment one can afford. But what about the rest? What additional things are important for a home office?
It’s my opinion that art work is an important component of the home office. Often, the right artwork will inspire us and remind us of our purpose for sitting in that home office for 8 hours a day. In addition to the right artwork, I have found that a treat jar (important for the happiness of my assistants, be they canine, feline or human), a television with cable (to keep abreast of current events which may affect my business–not for watching cheesy movies, honest), and a bulletin board with my latest bank statement prominently affixed (to remind me of why I am sitting at my computer for 8 hours a day) are also important features of the successful home office.
As you can see from the photo of my home office above…nah…just kidding! The photo of the home office above was taken from the HGTV website (www.hgtv.com) and was designed by Jackie Glisson, an interior designer whose company is “Just a Decorator”. The website for Jackie is: www.justadecorator.com. You can see that art plays an important part in the decor Jackie has created for a home office. Jackie’s home office design is a little more upscale than my home office but the principles are the same. Surround yourself with items which inspire and give you enjoyment, and you will be happier and more productive.
The “Blogging” poster (my personal fav), is from Despair, Inc. Thanks to them for their continued inspiration. Oh, and you’re welcome to visit my home office any time–I have a treat jar!
